Center for Spiritual Living Colorado Springs 
(A Science of Mind Community) 
Thank you for considering candidacy for the Center for Spiritual Living Colorado Springs Leadership Council. The Leadership Council serves an important role in keeping the vision and determining policy that supports our growing spiritual community. Leadership Council members are elected to serve a three-year term. The following information outlines the basic position requirements, expectations, nomination process, and election procedures. If after reviewing this data, you want to be considered as a candidate for the Leadership Council, please complete and submit this application by Monday, September 21, 2026 to be considered and included in the community vote to be held in an Annual Meeting on October 18, 2026.


Basic Position Requirements 


·       One-year Membership at Center for Spiritual Living Colorado Springs


·       Strong foundation in Science of Mind principles, and completion of Foundations or an equivalent Science of Mind class, as well as one other certificated Science of Mind class


·       Active, loyal and supporting; gives time and talent to Center for Spiritual Living Colorado Springs


·       Contributes financially to the CSLCS in a regular, structured, identifiable way


·       Business/finance/stewardship experience and/or organizational skills


·       Ability to generously contribute time and talent to the Center


·       Recent history of being in service to CSLCS


·       Ease with attention to detail and implementation and completion of projects


·       Excellent interpersonal communication skills


·       Excellent at navigating group dynamics


 


Leadership Council Expectations


·       Have use of computer and email account for frequent communications between Leadership Council members


·       Committed to serving a three-year term


·       Attend monthly Leadership Council meetings (usually 3rd Wednesday of each month) and other special Leadership Council meetings, as needed


·       Actively contributes to visioning/planning activities


·       Maintain visibility in center community


·       Communicate and listen to center members



Nomination and Selection Process



  • Notice of Leadership Council openings

  • Invite interested Members to apply

  • Applicant submits questionnaire, biography, and picture

  • Nominating Committee reviews and pre-screens applications

  • Nominating Committee interviews qualified candidates and presents top candidates to the Leadership Council

  • Leadership Council reviews candidates and selects nominees

  • Nominees are presented to the congregation

  • Nominees address the Membership at the Annual Membership Meeting

  • Membership votes to elect new Leadership Council members

Leadership Council Secretary Job Description

Attends all Leadership Council meetings.


Assists President in preparing the agenda for Leadership Council meetings.


Records all Leadership Council minutes.


Ensures the completeness, confidentiality, and accuracy of all Leadership Council records.


Responsible, with CSLCS administrative staff, for sending out Annual Meeting and any Special Meeting notices and for recording attendance and voter registration at the Annual Meeting and Special Meetings.


Ensure that the Code of Ethics and Confidentiality forms are signed every year by all LC members.


Review and raise potential changes to the Bylaws and Policies to Leadership Council on at least a quarterly basis.


Signs Certificate of Secretary acknowledgment for Bylaws.


Expected to work outside of Leadership Council meetings, as needed to fulfill the requirements of the position.


Accessible via email, text, and/or phone calls between meetings.

Leadership Council Member at Large Job Description


  • Participate actively in Leadership Council meetings

  • Implement the Center's vision, mission, goals, strategies, policies, and procedures.

  • Participate in long-range planning and organizational decision-making.

  • Support the goals and direction of the Senior Minister and the Center.

  • Support decisions made by the Leadership Council and maintain confidentiality.

  • Be accessible via email, text, and/or phone calls between meetings.
